We hear about gum disease frequently. Information to educate us is widespread. We don’t think about it until we encounter the symptoms. The fact is it is caused by bacteria that settles in your mouth and attacks the gums.

After bacteria has settled for a while, it spreads to the gum tissues that connect with the teeth, when it attacks, the know term for this is periodontal disease. This is another stage of gum disease if untreated.

Over time the bacteria forms into plaque. It then attaches itself to the teeth and continues thickening. To help fight off this thick texture on your teeth you can take oral hygiene measures. Be sure to not only brush in the mornings, brush every time you complete a meal. It is also a good practice to use dental floss. Plaque can also be controlled by sticking to your twice a year visits to your dentist. During your professional cleanings, the plaque will be scaled off.

A healthy tip, that will help avoid the progressive phases, is to practice good daily oral hygiene. This not only includes brushing and flossing. Annual check ups with a professional, who examines your mouth and performs cleanings is necessary. During cleanings, plaque is scraped away. Without this procedure, plaque turns into a hard substance, fixing itself to the teeth. This is referred to as tarter, and it is really hard to remove.

If you have tarter build up, you need to seek help of a dentist. If you don’t, you will run the risk of further damage. The tissue will begin to deteriorate causing the teeth to get lose and detach.

If you’ve experienced these symptoms, it’s not too late.

Definition- Gum disease also known as Periodontitis refers to infection in the area in and around teeth specifically the tissue and bone. The main cause of infection is bacteria found in the tartar and plaque build-up caused by a lack of oral hygiene. Large amounts of toxins are found in the bacteria, having an irritating affect on sensitive tissue.

Targets- No person or even animal is exempted from getting gum disease. However some persons are more susceptible to the condition. Teen females are the first target group identified by researchers and medical professionals. This can be attributed to hormonal activity during the puberty phase making the body more susceptible to bacterial attacks. Smokers fall in the second target group, suffering more from this condition than non-smokers. Your risk for getting gum problems is also greater when you suffer from certain illnesses, take specific medication and wear braces.

Symptoms- You will certainly know if you suffer from gum disease as the condition is very painful and clearly visible in the from of bleeding gums during and after flossing or brushing teeth and gums, gums are unhealthy in colour, sensitive or swollen, gums will pull away from teeth, breath will be very unpleasant and teeth loose or falling out.

Preventing-Keep in mind that prevention is better than cure. Prevention in terms of the disease is so very easy. Proper oral hygiene is the one and only requirement. Teeth should be brushed and flossed regularly, in other words twice per day or after sugary and acidic food or drink consumption, if possible. Floss will reach the impossible to access spaces between teeth, where normal bushing won’t reach.

Treatment- Treatment will be dependant upon the severity of the disease. scaling and root planing are popular methods of both treatment and prevention as tartar and plaque is removed to cure present infection as well as to prevent further or future infection. Antibiotics are very popular in the treatment of gum diseases, taking the form of mouthwashes, gels, fibres or capsules. In extremely severe periodontitis, surgery and gingival grafting should be considered for cleaning infected area.

Who Gets Periodontal Disease?

July 31st, 2009 by Rick in Uncategorized

oral irrigator

Periodontal disease occurs throughout the world and is in fact the 2nd most common dental disease found worldwide. Basically periodontal disease affects the periodontium, which is the tissue surrounding the teeth. Due to improper oral hygiene bacteria can grow and cause the tissue to become inflamed. If left untreated eventually your teeth can all fall out. When travelling it may be helpful to bring along a portable oral irrigator.

At the conclusion of many studies it has been found that those individuals originating from North Africa, Israel, the Mediterranean, Asia and the United States all have a greater chance of getting periodontal disease. Those individuals from Latin America, and European countries not mentioned have a lower rate of periodontal disease. It is thought that this trend is due to culture and social behaviors rather than having a genetic predisposition to periodontal disease. Oral irrigators may be helpful in combatting this disease.

A few forms of periodontal disease have some associated early symptoms that include, swelling of the gums, metallic taste in the mouth, deep pockets in the gums, redness or bleeding when brushing or flossing, bad breath, lengthening of teeth because your gums are pulling back and loss of teeth.

Chronic periodontal disease is the most prevalent and this generally occurs when you each adulthood. It is caused by bad oral hygiene and can start when you are a child without showing any symptoms until you are an adult. The hydro floss, which should not be confused with the hydro pulse, may be very helpful in this regard. There is no way to cure periodontal disease but you can manage the symptoms effectively.

Insidious and episodic periodontal diseases many times do not have any early warning signs. You will not know that you have periodontal disease until one of the late stage symptoms of bad breath, bleeding gums, sore gums, acute gum, abscesses, loose teeth, change in bits or itchy gums occurs. Episodic periodontal disease happens infrequently and may only occur in sports or one area of the mouth instead of widespread throughout your gums and tissue.

Why Do We Suffer From Periodontal Disease?

July 31st, 2009 by Rick in Uncategorized

oral irrigator

There are three main types of periodontal disease. The very early stage of periodontal disease is gingivitis though some forms of the disease do not have any symptoms. Bacteria that establishes a population in your mouth is the cause of periodontal disease. The bacteria cause inflammation in the tissue surrounding your teeth and can eventually lead to bone loss. Many times pockets will form in the gums and teeth can even become loose. Using an oral irrigator may prove to be helpful.

Periodontal disease is very common and is the second most widespread dental disease in the world. Links have been established between ethnic origins and periodontal disease though the lifestyle of the ethnics groups may be the cause of the periodontal disease and not the actually genetics of the individuals. Individuals from the US, Mediterranean, Asia, North Africa and Asia have a high chance of getting periodontal disease then those from Latin America and other European countries not mentioned.

The minute you notice early signs of periodontal disease should immediately send you to the doctor. Once you have periodontal disease you cannot eliminate it. You can only control the symptoms. Early signs include metallic taste in the mouth, pockets in t he gums, bad breath, lengthening of teeth due to gingival recession, gum swelling and redness or bleeding when brushing or flossing. The hydro floss, which is different than the hydro pulse, might be helpful here.

Chronic periodontitus is the most common type of periodontal disease that affects humans. It should be noted that dogs and cats can also suffer from periodontal disease. This type of periodontal disease can begin during childhood but will not show itself until adulthood. When going on vacation, some prefer to use a portable oral irrigator.

Insidious periodontitus is particularly nasty as there are no early warning signs. The symptoms that do occur with insidious periodontitus include a change in your bite, sore gums, bleeding gums, itchy gums, acute gum abscesses, and loose teeth. Episodic periodontitus will go away and then recur over time. It is not constantly present. It also may only occur in sports in your mouth and not throughout your entire jaw. The only way to periodontal disease is through a dental exam.

Things to look for with a carpet cleaner

July 31st, 2009 by Rick in Uncategorized

Our homes will be the most financial investment we shall ever make during our lives. But beyond that, this place is what we will call our home.We live most of our lives in that home.Like all things doesn’t it make sense to take care of it?One of those overlooked items people forget is the need for a regular carpet cleaning job.

I would like to point out some things to look for when looking for a carpet cleaning company.  This is from being a professional carpet cleaning San Diego company.Because you will find a bunch of different companies around. It is very sensible to try to pick the best one for an investment so valuable.

You are going to witness a lot of low priced offers.  But be careful. Most of the times it will be a technique called bait and switch. They have you invite them into your home with that offer of a low priced room. But once they are in your home, you will quickly see the room they offer to clean won’t be very big. That low price will not be for most normal size rooms in your house.Their goal is to just get out to your house.Because they know that once they get into your home, most people will be reluctant to tell you to leave. If they try to pull a fast one on you with this trick, don’t be afraid to turn them away.

Another technique they use to offer cheap prices is by using products that aren’t very good.  At that cheap prices they have to cut corners.  Most likely it will be in the carpet cleaning products they use. It will be low quality products.  Low quality products don’t do a good job.And an even worse outcome is the fact that it can ruin your carpet.Just be smart about it and know that if they can offer low prices, they can only do it by cutting something.  For you don’t let them sacrifice quality.

So the key advice in looking for a carpet cleaner is don’t just look at the low prices.  I have seen too many bad jobs that we cleaned up with our San Diego carpet company. So be smart in your choices.

How to use sports psychology to succeed

July 31st, 2009 by Rick in Uncategorized

Whether you are an amateur or a professional you should know how important sports psychology is.The mind is so important to succeeding in sports. With all the pressure to become successful it takes more than the athletic skills you have.It is how mentally prepared you are that is really the critical factor.

So if your goal is success in sports you need to understand this.  I will be offering my perspective from doing sports psychology in San Diego.Because the moment you understand how critical it is, the faster you will make it.

So why is it so important?Well it used to be not so pressure packed in sports. It isn’t only about pro sports either.  It could go be pressure packed in high school or sooner.  With that pressure comes the mind perspective. When they didn’t have that pressure, sports was just fun.It was all about the best athletes dominating. Now you might be the most athletic person, but if you have a weak mind, the pressure will make you fail.

I have watched it happen again and again at the high school sports level. I have done so much teen counseling San Diego I see how not being prepared mentally can set someone up for failure. But for the many who have had counseling and prepartion, they can expect a lot of success.

If a person is prepared for that pressure they can succeed.By having their mind prepared mentally, they are prepared for whatever may happen in a game.  I have had many students and athletes come to me needing this guidance in my family therapist San Diego practice. They could be athletes who are very good to the average athletes. With a ready and prepared mind somebody who may be average can beat superior competition. While a very good athlete can really take their game to the next level with that knowledge.

There is no denying how important the mental part of your game plays.  By understanding that, an athlete can jump ahead of the competition.

Why Is The Cheverolet Aveo Under Ten Thousand

July 31st, 2009 by Rick in Uncategorized

The only thing American about the compact Aveo car is it’s Chevrolet name. Built in Korea [or in China] by GM Daewoo, the Aveo is America’s price champion coming in at slightly below 10 thousand dollars. That’s right; you can still purchase a new automobile in the USA for less than 10 thousand bucks excluding taxes, dealer prep, and destination charges. Let’s take a harder look at Chevy’s bargain basement people hauler.

Available as either a 4 doorway sedan or as a 5 doorway hot hatch, the Chevrolet Aveo fills a crucial niche in the Chevy line up as an entry level econocar. Priced nearly five thousand dollars less than Chevy’s next most expensive model, the Cobalt, the Aveo allows for Chevrolet to say for a piece of the youth market. The Aveo is expressly focused to compete against similar models from Scion, Kia, Hyundai, and Toyota.

So, exactly what do shoppers get for their money, particularly with a base model? To start, the Aveo incorporates tires, a steering wheel, fenders, and safety glass. Seriously, standard equipment for the Aveo is a 1.6L I4 engine paired with a 5 speed manny tranny. Air will cost you extra, but the base kit list does include an AM/FM radio, rear wiper, a cargo cover, and side impact air bags for the driver and front seat passenger. Option packages include better sound, air, an automatic transmission, and a host of other accessories.

With a 97 in. Wheelbase and a curb weight of nearly 2350 pounds, the Aveo definitely is a challenger in the lightweight class. Headroom of just about forty inches permits taller drivers easier access, but one can only question whether any one would find the Aveo all that comfortable to begin with based on the vehicle’s size and the standard of the seating?

GM Daewoo [50.1% owned by General Motors] lately released a new version of the Aveo [called the Gentra in Korea] that currently is only in The new Gentra/Aveo incorporates a rounder exterior leaving from the dated wedged shape of this Aveo. No official word as of this writing if and when the new model will make its American debut.

While the Aveo is certain not to win many awards, it provides for consumers possessing limited means a reasonable method of transport. For Chevrolet, who was lacking a basic home grown model, the Aveo brings in buyers who could have otherwise bypassed Chevy dealers and headed at once to Scion or Kia for their first car. Beyond that the Aveo is a truly forgettable car and first time buyers may want to consider a good used car instead.

How fast can your car travel at top speed? Compare you car to some of the fastest cars in the world at thesupercars.org and also have a look at used car Chevy Avalanche.
